Natural Ways You Can Increase Your Memory

Strengthening your memory doesn't have to be a strenuous workout. There are plenty of simple, everyday tasks you can do to improve your memory little by little every day. In this article, you will find a few ways that you can help yourself master your memory skills.
If you are looking to improve your memory a little bit, then use the knowledge that you have by teaching others. Doing this makes your brain fire in a different way, and it helps in increasing memory. The trick is to teach something that you are genuinely interested in sharing.

Include fish oil in your diet every day, through supplements if necessary. Low levels of omega-3 could be the cause of your poor memory. Try adding it to your diet in the form of a pill.
To improve absorbing and remembering things, try using Mnemonics tricks. These are mind games that are often used by children in school when trying to learn things. For example, people use "I before E, except after C" to remember that in the English language, the letter "I" always goes before "E" in words, except after the letter "C".
Try to avoid food high in salt and saturated fats, including fast food. It has been scientifically proven that these foods can lead to carotid artery disease, which cuts off the brain's oxygen supply. Losing oxygen prevents the part of the brain that holds memory from learning and obtaining information.
Be sure to visit a dentist and take good care of your teeth if you want to have a good memory. Tooth and gum disease have been known to clog your carotid arteries, which in turn decreases oxygen to the brain. Without enough oxygen, the brain cannot process and keep information.
Exercise
In order to improve your memory, try doing more aerobic exercise. Recent studies have shown that high intensity cardio workouts can actually help you grow more brain cells in your hippocampus, the portion of your brain responsible for memory. Some exercises that you may want to try include running, biking, kickboxing and swimming.
Having a good social life is recommended if you want to retain a strong memory capacity. Remaining socially active will keep your spirits up, and help you stay alert. Depression or loneliness result in less stimulating activities for the mind and brain cells. If you have stimulating conversation with your friends, this helps give you a strong mind, which leads you to better memorization.
Exercise for the mind has been shown to help memory, just like exercise for the body will help muscles! If you enjoy crossword or word search puzzles, do them more often or play a trivia game with friends. Such activity will keep your brain functioning sharper and consequently improve your memory!
Trying these new ideas every day may seem like a lot, so try just one or two. Remembering to do them every day will definitely help, though. If you find that it's hard to remember to do them every day, then you definitely need to be doing them more often.
